The V International Festival of Short Films of Almeria pays tribute to John Lennon and Clint Eastwood.
The V international Festival of Short Films will pay tribute to John Lennon and Clint Eastwood and the VIII National Competition of Short Films in video “Almeria in Short”, will be celebrated in Almeria from 23 of May to 3 of June. It will take place in order to pay tribute to the upset and outstanding member of the musical group “The Beatles”, John Lennon and to the actor and director “Clint Eastwood”. He is the main character of the mythical western films of Sergio Leone, “the good, the ugly and the bad”, since it is the 40 anniversary of the film which has used the landscapes of Almeria as main stage.
The event has high economic importance with an outstanding award of 17.000€ for the best short movie.

The Lion of Belfast, accompanied by his new band, will perform next Friday in the “Auditorio Maestro Padilla”, where there is not a single free seat, at already on the first day the ticket were sold out. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the music of this genius who comes to present the themes of this last disc Magic Time, composed by ten original themes and two classics of jazz: “This love of mine” and “Lonely and blue”.
With the publication of “Magic Time”, Van Morrison has announced his new work for 2006, titled “Pay the Devil” which will be prsented on 6th of March. It includes compositions of Emmylou Harris, Hank Williams, Webb Pierce, but also there will appear songs of Conway Twitty, Joe Turner and George Jones.
Magic Time was edited in the end of May last year, and Morrison shows in this work the best of its talent which is unmistakable and inimitable.
Culture County Council, Pablo Venzal has affirmed that “we have done intense negotiations to bring this music genius to Almeria. Although Van Morrison has come to Spain a few times in 2005, we did not want to lose the chance of enjoying his music”.
