Aifos Almeria. Almeria Solar Platform
The Almeria Solar Platform (PSA) which is to be built by three companies and the Institute for Energy Savings, is expected to be generating enough power for the needs of 10,000 people by 2009. The experimental installation is the largest of its type in the world.
The plans for the plant were presented on Saturday by the Director of the Environmental Energies and Technologies Research Centre CIEMAT, Juan Antonio Rubio.
It will be based on parabolic cylinders capable of producing steam at 800ºC in order to run a turbine to generate electricity.
