The origin of Pulpi comes from the Neolithic, indeed an axe from this époque has been discovered here.
It has also been found rests of the Hispanic Roman population too, above all in the coast area: ceramic, figures, tools and things that make us think they worked hard in the sea and in the mine.
In the middle age, Pulpi was situated in a very movement point between Lorca and Vera, and two centuries later, it is still a no-man’s-land, condition which remained until the Reconquest.
In the 18th century the process of occupation of the area finished and Vera’s settlers stayed there, starting a prosperous period favoured by the mine activity in Sierra Almagrera. In the end of 20th century, when mines were closed, the area was converted into an agriculture area so it still remains prosperous
